The FCC: Empowering Businesses with Advanced Telecom Analytics
FCC, a leading provider of telecom solutions for companies nationwide, offers not only industry leading communications strategy, systems and support but also advanced analytics tools, so businesses can really understand what’s going on.
Their flagship analytics product has evolved over the past decade from simple Excel sheets to a sophisticated database accessible through the Mobile Analytical Gateway (MAG). This powerful tool provides detailed insights into mobile usage and costs, allowing you to optimise your telecom resources effectively.
The Importance of SIM-based Communication Analytics
To paraphrase Ferris Bueller, “Life moves fast”, and being able to analyse all your SIM-based users in one place is becoming more important for a number of reasons:
- Cost control: Detailed usage data allows businesses to identify areas of overspending, along with areas where there are unused numbers. Think of the savings this could lead to.
- Resource allocation: By understanding individual and departmental usage patterns, you can make sure your resources are allocated as efficiently as possible, meaning a smoother-running, more efficient operation for customers and colleagues alike.
- Proactive management: Sometimes it’s good to know sooner rather than later if anything untoward is happening. Automated alerts for unusual spending patterns mean you can address potential issues before they escalate and you get a bill shock when you receive your invoice. Great for budget management.
- Data-driven decision-making: Making decisions in business is so much easier when you’ve got the data to back them up. FCC’s analytics give you the ability to make informed decisions about your telecom strategies. As it displays actual usage data going back over 12 months, you can see trends too.
- Compliance and accountability: Never the most popular of words, but necessary. Our detailed reporting helps ensure everyone is compliant with your company policies whilst allowing for total accountability if required.
Our five most popular features
The MAG Reporting Suite has many reports, but not all will be as useful to everyone. We asked our MD, Mark Burland, which were the ones he found most useful when conducting his regular business reviews:
1. Individual usage metrics: MAG provides granular insights into each user’s data, voice, and text usage with costs, allowing for complete transparency of individual telecom expenses.

2. Department breakdowns: If you have multiple cost centres or departments and want to know how the costs and usage break down across them, the reporting suite can be filtered by any grouping you like! When we set up your mobile account, we’ll allocate your phone numbers to cost centres and it’s all done. If someone moves departments, just let the team know and we’ll update your account.
3. Data Visualisation: Some people like spreadsheets, some like graphs – MAG presents your information in both. This means that everyone can understand, and trends are easy to see.

4. Automated Alerts: The system includes price alerts for high or abnormal usage. This can prevent unexpected costs and help proactive management of telecom budgets.
5. Historical Data Analysis: MAG holds the last 12 months of historical data, allowing businesses to track long-term trends and make informed decisions based on past activity.
