If there’s one thing local, successful businesses can do well, it’s raise the profile (and funds) of charities which most need it – which is exactly what FCC MD Mark Burland did on Bank Holiday Monday (27th May) when he took part in the Westonbirt Sprint Triathlon to help raise some much-needed cash for GWAAC (Great Western Air Ambulance Charity).
Along with a group of friends, Mark wanted to show his support for this crucial, life-saving local charity, which provides vital air ambulance services across Bristol, Bath & North East Somerset, North Somerset, Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire. In 2018 they were called out to an astonishing 1887 jobs and need to raise over £3 million in donations just to stay operational, which puts into perspective just how important to saving people’s lives but so desperately underfunded they are.
Mark, however, was (and is) on a mission and took part in the triathlon with a posse of good pals to do their bit for GWAAC – and their combined efforts put them through their paces to raise invaluable funds for the charity which is very close to his heart. Proving that regional businesses can (and should) do their bit to raise awareness and money for important, indispensable causes, Mark’s passion and commitment to GWAAC means the charity now has a few more pivotal pounds in its pocket.
